Thanet Athletics Club's Imogen Davis competed in her first senior National Combined Events competition this past weekend, and she didn’t disappoint!
After a few challenging years due to injury, Davis entered her first senior national pentathlon at the Sheffield international indoor athletics stadium confident to perform after a solid block of winter training- and she did not disappoint!
Imogen started strong in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 10.43s. her PB streak continued into the next event as she jumped a huge 1m66 clearance in the high jump. Davis continued to deliver strong performances throughout her last 3 events achieving a solid 10m28 in the shot put, followed by a 5m34 long jump, finishing with an 800m, clocking 2mins30.28.
Davis' strong performance throughout the day rightfully earned her a huge overall points score PB of 3331pts. Ranking her 11th in the competition, and 2nd nationally for U23W. Imogen explains she was over the moon with her season opener and is looking forward to the season ahead, where she believes she will continue to improve and grow as an athlete with her help of her coach Darren.
This sets Imogen up perfectly to complete her indoor season before then prepping for her outdoor campaign from April onwards.
Her coach, Darren Hatton, said “Although Imogen’s potential has threatened this for a while this is the first time that she has strung together a series of results like this. There is so much more to come and if she can continue this consistency of training, she may well surprise a few people in the summer.”
